THE REASON

I thought a list like this, should be in an easy to get to place, and update-able. Granted I have no right or authority to make it, but nuts to that, I'm going to do it anyways. So here's the way this userpage news post should work.

If you have an "official" thread, you should post a link to it here. This was created when our search bar feature was down, but it continues to serve its purpose for threads which were poorly named or which are difficult to search for because you don't know they exist. This should help to eliviate the massive amounts new Sonic topics, Halo 3 topics, and whatever else topics that frequently pop up. The point of this is to gather an easy to get to list of "hot topics"

MAKING AN OFFICIAL TOPIC GUIDELINES

I expect most regs to understand what a good "official" topic should look like, but in the case that you aren't sure, follow these guide lines:

1) Write several interesting well informed paragraphs about the subject matter. This should be a launch board for information about the topic. Some people won't know what this is, so tell them. Give them a link to a home page with more information if it exists.

2) Title the topic accurately. You don't want people to never know what your topic is. You don't have to put official in the topic title, but if it's about sonic. . . Don't call it "OMG FINALLY!!!"

3) Make sure that it doesn't already exist. Seriously. Look back up to 5 pages in general. Use ctrl + F. And CHECK THIS LIST.

4) Links and Screen shots. Make sure you have at least one of each. Where can someone go to get more information? Provide a picture as proof, just to avoid that "pics or it didn't happen" post. Note this may not be applicable to all subjects, but for those that it is, I highly recomend doing it.

5) Post a link in this news post. I'll eventually delete your post and add it to the beginning of mine, if it belongs there.

6) Before making the post, contact a moderator to see if it needs to happen or if you missed anything in your post.

Turns out I am a mod now, but this list still isn't truly official, and I'd encourage you instead to think of it as an unnofficial official list. Use the threads that come in handy, and don't needlessly recreate them.
